Chronic Lyme

An informal term for ongoing or persistent symptoms associated with Lyme disease infection, used by patients and some practitioners.

Co-Infection

An additional infection transmitted by the same tick that carries Lyme disease, such as Bartonella, Babesia, or Ehrlichiosis.

Herxheimer Reaction

A temporary worsening of symptoms that can occur when starting antibiotic treatment for Lyme disease, caused by the die-off of bacteria.

Lyme-Literate Medical Doctor. An informal community term for healthcare providers with significant experience in Lyme disease diagnosis and treatment.

Lyme-Literate Doctor

A healthcare provider with clinical experience and familiarity with the full complexity of Lyme disease and tick-borne illness.
